The company – based in Uganda – was selected from more than 1400 submissions from 77 different countries.

“We were overwhelmed with the number of fantastic submissions and the high quality of the proposals we received. It was a difficult decision to select just one winner, but in the end, we were most impressed with Ecomak Recyclers, and are confident they will put the prize to good use” – Erik Detiger, Founder and Managing Director, Philantropia

Ecomak Recyclers is a social enterprise that recycles waste into eco-friendly products that can be reused by communities. Their innovation is building eco-friendly products solving waste pollution, poverty, and unemployment while mitigating climate change and creating jobs for marginalized women and youths. Ecomak works with thousands of community members in the Kyaka II refugee settlement in Uganda.
