We want to thank everyone who participated and helped
to make the competition a success!
We are happy to announce that the winner of the ChangeMakers Seed Funding 2023 competition is the team at Khaalisisi!
This waste management platform, based in Kathmandu, Nepal, is selected from more than 1000 submissions from 80 different countries.
“We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of excellent submissions and the remarkable quality of the proposals we were given. The decision of selecting just one winner was hard, however, in the end, Khaalisisi was the one that stood out the most to us, and we are sure they will put the prize to good use.”
– Erik Detiger, Founder and Managing Director of Philantropia
Khaalisisi is a social enterprise that works as a bridge between waste entrepreneurs and waste sellers. Their new venture, “Denim for Difference,” recycles old jeans by repurposing them into items such as purses, handbags, schoolbags, cushion covers, and organizers. The project provides employment for single women in the local area, giving them an opportunity to make money from their creativity. In addition to reducing waste pollution, this initiative also helps to address issues of unemployment, providing a source of income for those who might otherwise be marginalized.
