The International Trade Center´s SheTrades Initiative is open for applications. SheTrades is an organization dedicated to the support of women-led businesses in emerging markets in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Latin America. In the second phase of their Initiative, they aim to connect start-ups and SMEs with investors.
Who can apply?
This opportunity is open for applications from businesses and start ups that comply with at least one
of these conditions:
- Be at least 51% owned by woman/women
- Be at least 20% owned by woman/women, has at least one woman as CEO/COO/President/Vice President; and has at least 30% of the board of directors composed of women, where a board exists
- Be a SME benefitting women
Your startup should be in one of the countries where SheTrades has Business partners in Africa, Asia,
the Caribbean and Latin America.
What kinds of endeavors can be supported?
The SheTrades Initiatives currently is looking for women-run businesses and startups in the following
sectors: agriculture; artisan; culture; education; energy; environment; financial services; health;
housing development; information and communication technologies; Infrastructure and facilities
development; manufacturing; supply-chain services; technical assistance services; textile and
clothing; tourism; transport and logistics; and water. This list is not exhaustive though, so if you
startup is working in a different sector, feel free to contact SheTrades to find out if you still would be
eligible.
What is offered?
The chosen applicants will receive training and technical assistance to be able to access financing
from different sources. Ultimately, the startups and SMEs will be connected with possible investors
to further their business ideas to support women.
