UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Awards 2024

In 1989, the initiation of the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award took place. This award acknowledges individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions to urban development. It includes enhancing the quality of urban life and ensuring adequate, affordable, and accessible housing for everyone. Now, for the 2024 round, UN-Habitat is actively seeking nominations. This call for nominations marks another significant step in recognizing and honouring outstanding efforts in urban development.

UN-Habitat, in its selection of winners, will actively consider initiatives, best practices, and innovative solutions that contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 11, focusing on sustainable cities and communities. Furthermore, they will pay special attention to the alignment of these initiatives, practices, or individuals with the theme of World Habitat Day 2024, “Engaging youth to create a better urban future.” This theme aims to explore how we can engage new generations in shaping their urban present and future through participatory processes and local leadership opportunities.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Awards 2024 are:

Individuals and organizations working on sustainable urban projects that have had a great impact on society can be nominated for the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour. These include:

Government and intergovernmental organizations or
agencies, including bilateral aid agencies
Local and regional governments or their associations
Civil society organizations
The private sector
National habitat committees or focal points
Research and academic institutions
Public or private foundations
Multilateral agencies (United Nations agencies, World Bank,
etc.)
Media
Individuals

The benefits of the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Awards 2024 are:

The winners will receive the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award—a plaque engraved with the winner’s name—at the global celebration of World Habitat Day in Querétaro City, Mexico, on October 7, 2024.
