Maritime Decarbonisation Programme

Maritime decarbonisation is crucial for sustainability. Although shipping is efficient, it still contributes significantly to global CO2 emissions. Efforts like route optimisation and hull design have improved fuel efficiency, but achieving net-zero requires a major transformation. Space assets will play a key role, driven by societal, economic pressures, and new regulations. The ESA call for proposals supports space-based services to help the maritime sector meet these challenges and comply with regulations.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Maritime Decarbonisation Programme are:

Companies must reside in eligible ESA Member States.
Applicants need a Letter of Authorisation from their national delegations.
Participation is open to companies, public bodies, and NGOs.
