The Green Chemistry Challenge Awards, sponsored by EPA and the American Chemical Society, recognize innovative chemical technologies that promote environmental and economic benefits. Over 27 years, 139 winners have significantly reduced chemical hazards. By 2022, these technologies eliminated 830 million pounds of hazardous chemicals, saved 21 billion gallons of water, and reduced 7.8 billion pounds of CO2 emissions annually. The awards highlight the importance of green chemistry in chemical design, manufacture, and use.
