Climate Change Business Grant

This grant supports business projects that help fight climate change. It aims for a situation where businesses, the community, and the environment all benefit. The grant values projects that help not just one business, but others and local residents too. It also considers how much a project benefits the Māori community. The council encourages creative ideas that lower greenhouse gas emissions. Projects should show how they will reduce emissions within a year. The grant does not support carbon capture or waste reduction projects.

The benefits of the Business Grant are:
- Funding: The Council has set aside $50,000 for the 2023/24 financial year, with applicants able to request up to $25,000.
- Co-funding: Applications with co-funding from other sources are viewed more favorably.
- Expenses: Funding can cover operational costs and necessary materials or equipment. Quotes and proof of purchase are required for equipment.
- GST: Grants are GST-free. Costs should exclude GST. The council adjusts applications from non-GST registered groups or organizations. Include transport and freight costs if applicable.
