CIHEAM Youth Innovation Award 2024

The 2024 CIHEAM Youth Innovation Award is now open for applications until August 15, 2024. This award, supported by UfM, UNIMED, and BusinessMed, aims to recognize youth innovations that contribute to green and blue transitions in Mediterranean food systems. The award ceremony will be held at the Ecomondo exhibition in Rimini, Italy, from November 5-8, 2024. This initiative encourages young people to develop sustainable solutions to combat climate change and promote a green, blue, and circular economy.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the CIHEAM Youth Innovation Award 2024 are:

Applicants should be young Mediterraneans, under 40 years old.
They should propose an innovative solution, either individually or as a team/startup, ready for a pilot phase in the Mediterranean region.

Selection Criteria

The award will honor an innovative entrepreneurial solution that:
- Shows unique and disruptive features compared to existing ones.
- Contributes significantly to the environmental, social, and economic sustainability of Mediterranean Food Systems.
- Demonstrates feasibility and measurable sustainability.
- Has potential for scale-up, reproducibility, etc.
- Is ready for implementation (RTL).

The benefit of CIHEAM Youth Innovation Award 2024 are:

The chosen awardee will get a €10,000 grant, a CIHEAM medal, and a certificate. These will be presented at a special session during the ECOMONDO – The Green Technology Expo in Rimini, Italy, from November 5-8, 2024.
ECOMONDO provides a platform for industry professionals, stakeholders, policy makers, and opinion leaders to meet and discuss ecological transition.
Additional awards include a one-year scholarship for a Master’s degree in open innovation and youth entrepreneurship at CIHEAM Bari.
An internship opportunity with a partner company is also part of the recognition.
