The Strengthening African National Regulatory Authorities grant aims to bolster the capabilities of regulatory authorities in African countries by enhancing their data systems. The focus is on improving the collection, analysis, and utilization of data to effectively monitor and regulate health-related interventions.
Eligibility
To be considered, proposals should:
- Involve at least one NRA operating at the WHO ML3 level.
- Demonstrate that at least 80% of the funding supports NRAs.
- Show how they enable other countries to reach the WHO ML3 level.
- Involve significant collaboration between at least two NRAs.
- Collaboration should be essential for project goals.
- Consider collaborations beyond Africa if they are beneficial.
- Have the potential to demonstrate impact within 18–24 months.
- Fit within the proposed budget.
- Explain how project resources will be secured in the first 3–4 months.
- Be driven by a commitment to collaboration and information sharing.
- Plan for change management and the implementation of new data systems.
- Demonstrate plans for sustainability beyond the grant period.
- Consider securing commitments from agency boards.
The Strengthening African National Regulatory Authorities grants do not fund:
- Proposals without an ML3 NRA will not be considered.
- Proposals led by non-African institutions are excluded.
- A clear commitment to collaboration is essential.
- Proposals must be achievable within the grant term.
- Only consider proposals within the scope of the call.
- Proposals supporting ML3 efforts beyond data systems won’t be funded.
Benefits
- We seek to fund up to five proposals. Successful proposals will receive an award of up to USD $300,000 with an 18- to 24-month grant duration. Proposals must demonstrate that at least 80% of the funding is going to NRAs.
