How to Secure Funding for Your Startup: A Comprehensive Guide
Eligibility
To be eligible, your organization must meet the following criteria:
- Leadership: Leaders must possess a clear vision and determination to overcome the unique challenges of both a tech startup and a nonprofit.
- Tech Talent: Technical expertise should drive your organization, with tech talent in leadership positions.
- Potential for Impact: Your organization should primarily serve a defined audience, and its success should positively influence many lives deeply
- Your startup should significantly affect agriculture, food, or nutrition.
- Science-Based Solution: You should present a unique, science-based solution to a well-defined problem, preferably with associated intellectual property.
- Feasibility: Demonstrate the feasibility of your biotech innovation in a lab setting.
- You should require scientific support and access to high-tech facilities to develop a proof-of-concept.
- Your team should combine scientific expertise with business acumen, with at least two members.
- You must commit to the fast-paced journey of creating a seed-stage startup, with preference given to teams working at Biotope facilities.
- Foreign startups are welcome, provided they demonstrate a connection to the region. The program offers access to laboratories, an expert network, and substantial seed funding.
- Both programs accept tech nonprofits from around the world and emphasize the importance of having a technology focus.
- While for-profit corporations and startups are ineligible for Fast Forward, student-led organizations and those without formal incorporation are eligible. Tech nonprofits must be registered as nonprofits in their respective countries.
- The Accelerator primarily targets organizations working on their first MVP or prototype and prioritizes those with a strong technology focus.
- Leadership participation is required, but founders who no longer lead the organization can participate. Re-application is encouraged if not accepted initially.
