Apply before: September 30, 2023

The Fast Forward Startup Accelerator for 2024 is currently accepting applications and aims to provide guidance on fundraising, board building, and other challenges specific to tech nonprofit entrepreneurs.

How to Secure Funding for Your Startup: A Comprehensive Guide

To be eligible, your organization must meet the following criteria:

  • Leadership: Leaders must possess a clear vision and determination to overcome the unique challenges of both a tech startup and a nonprofit.
  • Tech Talent: Technical expertise should drive your organization, with tech talent in leadership positions.
  • Potential for Impact: Your organization should primarily serve a defined audience, and its success should positively influence many lives deeply
  • Your startup should significantly affect agriculture, food, or nutrition.
  • Science-Based Solution: You should present a unique, science-based solution to a well-defined problem, preferably with associated intellectual property.
  • Feasibility: Demonstrate the feasibility of your biotech innovation in a lab setting.
  •  You should require scientific support and access to high-tech facilities to develop a proof-of-concept.
  • Your team should combine scientific expertise with business acumen, with at least two members.
  • You must commit to the fast-paced journey of creating a seed-stage startup, with preference given to teams working at Biotope facilities.
  • Foreign startups are welcome, provided they demonstrate a connection to the region. The program offers access to laboratories, an expert network, and substantial seed funding.
  • Both programs accept tech nonprofits from around the world and emphasize the importance of having a technology focus.
  • While for-profit corporations and startups are ineligible for Fast Forward, student-led organizations and those without formal incorporation are eligible. Tech nonprofits must be registered as nonprofits in their respective countries.
  •  The Accelerator primarily targets organizations working on their first MVP or prototype and prioritizes those with a strong technology focus.
  •  Leadership participation is required, but founders who no longer lead the organization can participate. Re-application is encouraged if not accepted initially.
